What is structural sealant

Structural sealant is a kind of adhesive with high strength (compression strength >65MPa, steel - steel forward tensile bonding strength b> 30MPa, shear strength >18MPa), can bear a large load, and aging resistance, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, stable performance in the life expectancy, suitable for strong structural parts of the adhesive.

What is weather sealant

Weather sealant is a one-component, neutral curing silicone sealant specially designed for weather-resistant sealing of various curtain walls. It has excellent weather resistance. After artificial accelerated weathering test, the physical and chemical properties of sealant have no obvious change. When in use, squeeze the glue from the sealant barrel with a squeezer into the joints that need to be sealed. The sealant absorbs moisture in the air at room temperature and solidifies into an elastomer, forming an effective seal.

The difference between structural sealant and weather sealant

Different USES

Weather sealant

1. Suitable for weather-resistant sealing of all kinds of curtain walls, especially recommended for weather-resistant sealing of glass curtain walls, aluminum-plastic panel curtain walls and stone dry hanging.

2. Joint sealing between metal, glass, aluminum, ceramic tile, plexiglass and coated glass.

3. Joint sealing of concrete, cement, brick, rock, marble, steel, wood, anodized aluminum and painted aluminum surfaces. Primer is not required in most cases.

Structural sealant

1. Mainly used for metal and glass structure or non-structural adhesion assembly of glass curtain wall.

2. It can connect the glass directly with the surface of the metal component to form a single assembly component, so as to meet the design requirements of the curtain wall with full or semi-hidden frame.

3. Structural adhesive sealing of insulating glass.

Place of action

Weather resistant sealant is mainly used for sealing between materials, seam sealing waterproof; The structural adhesive is mainly used for the adhesion of structural and non-structural assembly of various curtain walls, and the two functions are different.

the bond performance

1, weather resistant sealant can also be said to be a universal adhesive, mainly with uv resistance, acid rain, snow and other extreme weather. The displacement capacity of weather-resistant adhesive is higher than that of structural adhesive.

2, silicone structure adhesive in addition to the characteristics of weather resistant sealant, also has a stronger bond than the weather resistant sealant, mainly in the tear strength, elongation at break, tensile strength is relatively strong, tensile strength is mainly used in the place of stress. The modulus, hardness, strength and price of structural adhesive are higher than those of the same grade.
