The optimal thickness for bathtub edge sealant typically falls between 3–5 mm. This range ensures the material is flexible enough to accommodate movement without tearing, yet robust enough to resist water penetration. Thinner layers risk shrinking over time, leaving gaps, while excessively thick applications may take longer to cure and become prone to cracking under stress.
Factors like joint width and material type influence the ideal thickness. For narrow gaps (3–6 mm), aim for a thinner bead to avoid overflow. Wider joints (6–12 mm) may require a slightly thicker application, but always stay within the recommended range to maintain elasticity.
